I am sure you remember this post I wrote sometime back in 2006:-
Malay is a language which is easy to master. As an introduction, I’ll show you a few examples before we embark into the real deal in the following lessons. To those who could read Mandarin, you may refer to the chinese characters which are available.
Now let’s have some fun with simple Malay words. You may refer translations from the screenshots above every example. Now, let’s get started!

Malay: Kau besar punya butuh! (best pronounced as boo-toh!)
English: You have big needs!
Malay: Siapa butuh butuh?
English: Who needs penis? or Who wants penis?
…

Malay: Hati aku hancur, kau tahu!
English: My liver is crushed, you know!
Malay: Hati siapa yang tak sakit kena tipu dengan mak sendiri?
English: Whose liver is not painful when cheated with mother alone?
Malay: Berhati-hati di jalan raya…
English: Be feelings at the road…
Malay: Sampai hati kau buat aku macam gini.
English: Reach centre you do me like this.
…

Malay: Kau memang betina sial!
English: You are really an unlucky girl!

Malay: Tadi ada pontianak kotek punyalah kuat.
English: Just now a pontianak cackled so loudly.
Malay: Jantan tu betul punya kotek!
English: That man is a real comet!
Malay: Bila kotek, ingat saat indah…
English: When wagging the tail, think wonderful times…
…

Malay: Kau cebok pantat kasi bersih…
English: You scoop the bottom give clean…
Okay, that’s it, enough for today’s lesson.
Remember… when a malay is having a real unlucky day, just say to that person, “Kau betul punya sial eh?“
or,When asked, “Kau tak cebok?” meaning “You no scoop (that was made from coconut shell?)” and you happen not to possess any, say it convincingly, “TAK!“. Tak, as sampled in the 2 malay sentences in this paragraph, means “No”.
or,
If you need assistance in scooping something, simply ask nicely, “Cebok kan aku?“.
or,
If a dog is seen wagging it’s long tail (in malay, “long” is “panjang“), you may create conversation with any Malay in sight and say, “Ehhh… kotek panjang ah!!” and smile in glee…
All the best of luck in learning Malay. I am sure Malays will be glad to offer their assistance in case you need any help. So in return if they seek your answers for anything, gladly respond “Kau betul butuh tau…” which simply means, “You really want to know…”
See! Ain’t it fun and easy learning the easiest language in the world?
